PVTC

The Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC), established in October 1998 as a public–private partnership, uses zakat funds to provide demand-driven skills training to underprivileged youth across Punjab. Operating via 184 vocational centers in repurposed government buildings, PVTC offers market-aligned courses in 38 trades—including life skills and entrepreneurship—with trainees required to complete on-the-job training and certification under its 1998 Act. With an almost equal gender balance, PVTC trains around 60,000–68,000 students annually, of whom approximately 82 % secure employment or launch businesses. Recent initiatives include competency-based training rolled out across dozens of institutes and international collaboration, including a 2025 MoU with the Overseas Employment Corporation to prepare youth for jobs in Japan and South Korea through language and cultural training
