NAVTTC to revise curricula of 20 more vocational trades

March 22, 2012

LAHORE: National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has initiated the fast track revision of curricula of 20 different vocational trades in a bid to bring uniformity in the training at national level.

The NAVTTC recently organized two national level events at Lahore, where subject experts and people from respective industries reviewed the drafts of curricula. This initiative is being supported under TVET Reform Support Programme, being implemented by GIZ with financial contribution from the European Union, the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The drafts of these 20 vocational trades were prepared by field specialists. Started on March 12, in these sessions the experts discussed the drafts with Industrial Advisory Groups consisting of chambers, industry associations, corporate companies and SMEs to make it appropriate and relevant to the market needs.

Similarly, representatives from all provincial Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTA’s), Technical Boards and Vocational Training Institutes joined the discussion and gave their input to make these curricula more market oriented.

The drafts of these 20 curricula have been revised in line with the feedback received in these sessions, which culminated on March 22, while further input from the industry and chambers will be taken before notifying these curricula.
