TEACHER TRAINING & CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE

Availability of skilled teachers and instructors serves as an important element for the implementation of Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) in line with the National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF).

The TVET Sector Support Programme supports developing a sustainable national approach to teacher training in Pakistan. This approach, being aligned with the National Skills Strategy, TVET policy and the HRD policy, aims at integrating in-service and pre-service training for teachers and instructors. Experiences made during the first phase of the TVET reform (2011-2016) have also been considered for this purpose.

Upgradation of existing 05 teacher training institutes into Centers of Excellence (CoE) is one of the highlights of respective intervention area being supported by the TVET Sector Support Programme. The CoE, which are being established in one each province, will offer a functional and sustainable model of quality training of TVET managers, teachers, instructors and assessors in the TVET system.

The Programme supports in-service training of 3,550 TVET teachers across Pakistan within prioritized economic sectors. Initially, these trainings will be offered in selected Staff Training Institutes and Technical Training Institutes through a cascade system. However, in the later stage these trainings will be conducted through the CoE.
