Muzaffarabad, Aug 22, 2016:Provision of a quality technical and vocational education and training (TVET) can help reduce unemployment and support the socio-economic uplift of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
This was the crux of speeches made at a seminar on Competency Based Training & Assessment (CBT&A) organized on the sidelines of a Hunar Mela, jointly by the Skill Development Council, Islamabad and the Azad Jammu Kashmir Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority here on Monday.
Different institutes offering technical and vocational education both in private as well as public sectorin AJK have set up their stalls which attracted attention of visitors from different walks of life.
The event was supported by the TVET Reform Support Programme, which is funded by the European Union and governments of Netherlands, Germany and Norway.
Mr. Abdul Sami Khan, chairman AJK TEVTA was the chief guest at the seminar while Mr. M Akram Farid, chairman SDC, Khawaja Ahsan, Secretary Social Welfare, Government of AJK, Javaid Qureshi and others also spoke at the occasion and highlighted the importance of TVET.
Mr. Sami speaking at the occasion said that AJK TEVTA is striving for producing a skilled workforce, which is able to meet the demands of the job market and industry adding that the CBT is designed as per industrial demand.
“The completers of these programmes will have better prospects for employability” he remarked.
On this occasion, SDC and AJK TEVTA also announced to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to further promote cooperation in the area of TVET delivery.
