MUZAFFARABAD, December 16, 2017: The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider here on Saturday handed over training completion certificates to the first batch of skilled persons trained under Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A), which is a new approach to link skills training with the requirement of the job market.
The first-ever certificate was handed over the certified men and women at a ceremony organized by the AJK Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (AJK-TEVTA) in collaboration with TVET Sector Support Programme here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister AJK highlighted the importance of TVET and vowed that the government will extend its all-out support to equip the youth with employable skills. “Skills training is the only solution to reduce unemployment in the region,” opined the prime minister. Mr Zafar Nabi Butt, Chairman AJK TEVTA appreciated the interest of private sector for promoting technical skills training and education. Executive Director National Vocational Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Mr Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema appreciated the efforts of AJK TEVTA towards flourishing the TVET in the region and improving collaboration with the private sector for employability prospects for TVET graduates.
One the sidelines of the ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Suzuki Muzaffarabad Motors, Shifa Foundation and AJK Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) for improved partnership among the public-private sector and promote the development of curriculum and delivery of on-the-job training collectively for the mutual benefit of the public and private sector for the promotion and success of TVET sector. The collaborative efforts may not only result to create better employment opportunities for the youth but also provide benefit to the industry for their resource interests.
Mr Shaukat Mehmood Qazi, Chairman Suzuki Motors Muzaffarabad, Dr Manzoor Qazi, Chairman Shifa Foundation and Mr Zafar Nabi Butt, Chairman AJK TEVTA represented their respective organizations while MoU signing.
“The future of job market lies in technical and vocational education and training and CBT&A is the key to success for reaching out the local and international market,” said Mr Shaukat Mehmood Qazi, Chairman Suzuki Motors Muzaffarabad. While speaking to the media, CBT&A graduates and TVET practitioners from various organizations present at the occasion, Dr Manzoor Qazi, Chairman Shifa Foundation said that Workforce trained through technical and vocational education can prove beneficial for quality production to provide economic gain to the industry and reduce production cost.
