TVET Sector Support Programme, funded by the European Union, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Royal Norwegian Embassy and implemented by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) organized the Balochistan Hunar-Rozgar Mela 2021 (Skills Show and Recruitment Drive) to provide an opportunity to trained youth to play productive role in key economic sectors at a local hotel in Quetta. This activity provided a platform to support in matching hundreds of young jobseekers trained in vocational and technical occupations with recruiters and Human Resource (HR) professionals from leading enterprises of Quetta. Through this Mela, TVET Sector Support Programme showcased the top training institutes in Balochistan that are implementing competency-based training for industry priority key sectors. It likewise promoted the contribution of top Business and Industry Associations (BIAs) and enterprises from these sectors which have contributed to the TVET system in providing on-the-job trainings and employment to the youth of this region.
During the Balochistan Hunar Rozgar Mela, thirty-four participating enterprises took on-spot interviews of 950 TVET on-the job trainees and graduates support in achieving employment for approximately 400 vacancies. The Hunar Rozgar mela mark the public-private partnership in creating job opportunities for trained skill force of Balochistan. It demonstrates the ambition of Government of Pakistan’s commitment towards employment promotion and skills delivery through TVET Sector Support Programme by engaging private sector and donors’ contribution in promoting private sector engagement as part of overall TVET Reform.
