HUNZA, June 11 2014: Hundreds of young men and women, trained in different IT skills, gathered at a reunion session here on Wednesday, sharing their success stories and inspiring others to become a skilled person.
The reunion session was organized by Karakorum Area Development Organization (KADO), offering an opportunity of exchange of success stories and experiences to over 400 trainees, who completed their training from KADO i-Tech Training centers in Gulmit, Karimabad and Aliabad.Karakoram Area Development Organization through its i-Tech project to enhance the employability of marginalized segments in Gilgit-Baltistan has trained over 1200 graduates in 7 training centers over the last one and half years.
The projected is supported by the TVET Reform Support Programme as part of its Fund for Innovative Training (FIT). The TVET Reform Support Programme is co-financed by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The event proved to be an opportunity for the trainees to share experiences and for the organizers a way to identify and document success stories.A number of governmental and non-governmental officials participated in the eventwhich boosted the reputation of the project in the community and key stakeholders.Chief Minister GilgitBaltistanSyed Mehdi Shah,Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly Wazir Baig and couple of ministers as well as The European Union Ambassador to Pakistan HE Lars-Gunnar Wigemark participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion the visiting guests highly appreciated the role of KADO in contributing to socio economic development of the region andin capacity building and training of the local population to decrease unemployment and poverty.At the end, successful trainees were awarded prizes laptops, i-pods and UPS.
In order to achieve the aims and objectives of the project, KADO is planning to organize a similar event for the remaining four training centers located in Skardu, Gilgit, Danyore and Ghakuch.
