PESHAWAR, 28 June, 2014: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Technical Education awarded distinction certificates and cash prizes among outstanding students, graduating from different technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes at a ceremony here on Saturday.
The prize distribution ceremony was organized in collaboration with TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
In the ceremony position holders of Diploma in Commerce and Diploma in Business Administration were honored for their outstanding results in the annual examination.
Director General Technical Education and Manpower Training Prof. Shakeel Ahmed was the chief guest of the event, while Hidayatullah, acting chairman KPBTE chaired the session.A large number of students and their parents attended the ceremony. In D.Com, Mr. Shakirullah of Muslim College of Commerce, Peshawar hold first position by securing 1033 marks followed by Mr. Wasim Ahmed who stood second by securing 1025 marks from the same college. Mr. Nauman Khan from Government college of Management Sciences, Peshawar held 3rd position by securing 1019 marks.
In DBA, Ms. Farzana Rehman of Syed Ahmed Shaheed College of Commerce, Mansehra hold first position by securing 1160 marks followed by Mr. Shahid Sattar who stood second by securing 1134 marks from Muslim College of Commerce, Peshawar. Whereas, Mr. Kifayatullah from Jinah Degree College of Commerce & Computer Sciences, Mansehra hold 3rd position by securing 1115 marks.
A cash prize of Rs. 25000, Rs. 15000 &Rs. 10000 was distributed among the first, second and third position holders respectively. In addition to cash prizes merit certificates were also distributed by the Director General, TEVTA among the position holders students.
Earlier, Qaiser Sarwar Khan, Capacity Development Advisor, TVET Reform Support Programme also spoke on the importance of TVET and urged the audience to promote TVET as a decent career option among the youth.
