Pakistan TVET REFORM Support Programme Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Reform support Programme
KARACHI Sept 17, 2014: Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) apprised the delegates of a two-day moot, which started here on Wednesday, about its endeavors to make delivery of skills training relevant to the industry demands.
The two-day workshop entitled-Learning by sharing the knowledge- was organized by the STEVTA in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC). The event was supported by the TVET Reform Support Programme, co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany and being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The objective of the programme was to provide an opportunity to learn from the experience of an already established and functional TEVTAs including in Sindh and Punjab provinces.
More than 75 senior officers representing various TEVTAsand NAVTTC and the technical experts from the GIZ participated in this programme.
The theme of the programme was proposed as Industry – institutions linkages for improve quality and relevance of TVET on the basis that Sindh TEVTA has shown progress in the area of industry – institute linkages.
Sindh (TEVTA) organized different learning stations for disseminating information of how the industry institute linkages, public private partnership, enterprise based training and management of programs and projects can empower the youth of Pakistan which can mitigate the poverty of Pakistan.
In the first learning station Ms.Parveen Shaikh and MsNaheed Nasir briefed the participants about the role of Institute Management Committees (IMCs) and their achievements in the industry institute linkages.
In the second station PPP partners discussed about the need for Public Private Partnership and presented different models of successful partnership in this globalized World. It was discussed that government alone cannot cater the complex and fast changing skills need of labour market in that context policy framework and implementation mechanism for PPP is the need of the hour.
In the third station employer representative trade testing board emphasized the improvement of apprenticeship by giving recommendations. In the fourth station management of programs and projects it was discussed that how government has initiated various projects including Sindh Skills Development Project with the support of World Bank and Benazir Bhutto youth development to impart need based vocational training for better employability of youth.
Syed Mamtaz Ali Shah, chairman STEVTA welcomed and appreciated the representatives of all TEVTA and industrialist on the eve of programme.
Component leader – capacity building of TEVTAs talked about the initiative taken under TEVT Reform Support Programme on industry engagement, public private partnership and apprenticeship.
Mr.Khawaja MuhammedNauman President EFP appreciated the exchange of ideas of the participants of all TEVTAS for the sake of learning which was essential in order to make TEVT more responsive to Labour Market.
Mr. Shahid Abdul Salam Thahim Member Provincial Assembly and Vice Chairman STEVTA praises the efforts and said that creating employment and providing decent jobs to all individuals is a global challenge , like other countries we are also facing acute problem of un-employment and growing poverty particularly amongst youth. He said that I have been informed that the GIZ under TVET Reform Support Programme have initiated number of programs with the collaboration of NAVTTC including capacity building of TEVTs to implement National Skills Strategy particularly implementation of competency based training and NVQF and public private partnership and I am sure these programs will bring positive change amongst our youth and society.
Mr.Ahsanullah Khan highlighted the issues of unemployment and poverty which are maligning our basic fabric of our society. He appreciated the TEVT sector in Pakistan which would reduce the menace of unemployment and poverty.
Mr.Yahya DG NAVTTC and Mr. Mumtaz Ali Shah also speaks on the occasion and applause the activities and initiatives taken by TVET Reform support programs and creating awareness about the future of Technical educations in Pakistan.
