Karachi, June 2, 2013: Around 183 candidates appeared to participate in the entrance test for the training courses offered by the Germany Pakistan Training Initiative (GPATI) at the Aman Institute for Vocational Training (AMANTECH).
The potential trainees signed up for training courses such as machining, bench fitting, general electric, electronics, welding & fabrication, and automobile.
Of the successful candidates 165 applicants will be invited to become part of the GPATI; a new skills development schemed initiated by the German Consulate in Karachi in collaboration with several German and Pakistani companies.
GPATI is a skills development programme based on a famous German Dual Training System model, which has been modified according to the particular environment and needs of Pakistan. Following this model, trainees receive theoretical training at training centres, while on the job training is imparted at the companies in real time workplace environments.
Under the GPATI, German companies such as BASF, BMW, DHL, Lind, Lufthansa Cargo, Merck, Metro, DB Schenker, Mercedes, SIEMENS and a Autocom are participating in this initiative as the contributing employers. At the same time the Aman Institute for Vocational Training (AMANTECH) and the Institute for Advancing Careers and Talents (iACT) are the training providers for this project.
Candidates, who have successfully completed the entrance test, will be interviewed by the employers and the training providers, before their training starts in the last week of June.
