Printing industry join-hands to launch CBT based National Diploma at level-5 in Pakistan

Karachi: March 2, 2021: Pakistan Association of Printing and Graphic Arts Industry (PAPGAI) and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Dewan University (SBBDU) in Karachi today marked the start of remarkable partnership through launch of National Diploma at level-5 in Post Printing Operations under competency-based-training and assessment (CBTA)approach. The first round of training cycle began today at Time Press Private Limited and Saima Packaging simultaneously, which are the member enterprises of PAPGAI. These enterpriseswill support training of 50 young men and women in printing and graphic industry.

Dr. S.M. Minhajuddin, CEO Times Press Private Limited, Mr. Aleem Tinwala – Director Saima Packaging Private Limited and Mr. Salman Haroon – Chairman TVET Committee, PAPGAI marked this occasion a notable one. They highlighted the demand of human resource in printing industry and training of human resource as per CBTA approach a worthwhile effort. Interest of industry in taking lead for design and delivery of competency-based-training can be resource saving for industry, they mentioned.

 

Vice Chancellor of SBBDU, Dr. Aurangzeb Khanappreciated the forthcoming approach of industry in printing sector and called this step as one-of-its-kind in Pakistan within the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) arena.

Speaking at the occasion, Regional Coordinator Sindh, Mr. Omair Abubaker appreciated the cooperation between of SSBDU and printing sector enterprises for their collaboration and support in improving partnership to take CBT implementation to next-level and open a new chapter for TVET sectorin various trades and technologies across Pakistan.

The initiation of national diploma in post printing operations under CBT approach is the first-ever step taken in collaboration with NAVTTC, TEVTAs and private sector. The training will be imparted in industry-based training arrangements with thecollaboration of private sector in training-delivery.Trainings in national diploma at CBT level-5 will help the traineeto excel on the regular pathway of education. All nationaldiplomas of level-5 are developed with thecollaboration of respective industry.

Development of national diploma in post printing operations at CBT level-5 and launch of its training is supported by the TVET Sector Support Programme, which is funded by the European Union and the governments of Germany and Norway. The TVET Sector Support Programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in close collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) as well as provincial Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTAs) and private sector organizations.
